Bo's Coffee's New Offerings

Bo’s Coffee recently launched its own version of the Super Moist Chocolate Cake which is there 1st new offering! This old-time everybody’s favourite sweet delight is something one can't just resist, especially if paired with coffee at Bo's. Called the Super Moist Chocolate Cake, the concoction is a feast for one’s senses. This brown heaven has chocolate dripping deliciously from its core with every bit that you take and put in your mouth.

Some would say that the history of the chocolate cake goes back to 1764, when Dr. James Baker discovered how to make chocolate by grinding cocoa beans between two massive millstones. The resulting chocolate liquid syrup was poured in molds to make “cakes” of chocolate. Since that time, chocolate cakes have gone through several versions from the simplest home-baked chocolate cakes to those infused with fruits and champagne.

Offering #2: Cookie for the gods: a twist to a classic

Food for the gods is a delicious mix of butter, sugar, eggs, and nuts. It is up there with Fruitcake as a Christmas gift staple. And why not? You can never go wrong with a perfectly baked Food for the gods.

However, as is tradition at Bo’s Coffee, they are taking this Filipino classic one step further. In comes Cookie for the gods. Taking the same ingredients that make Food for the gods the goodness we all love to eat, Bo’s Coffee put a twist by making cookie versions.

Cookie for the gods is a crunchy gem of a cookie that teases you to have more than one every time. Available at Bo’s Coffee in Manila and Cebu, this sweet-smelling delight will never disappoint.

Bo’s Coffee’s Super Moist Chocolate Cake and the Cookie for the Gods are already available in Manila and Cebu.

How to get Bo's Coffee Doodle Set

The Doodle Set is your Ultimate Doodling Companion! At Bo’s Coffee, we take doodling very seriously or not. It might seem strange for anyone to be serious about doodling but it's a way for creative people to really let loose and express there current-immediate thoughts.

Bo’s Coffee has thus created the ultimate doodling companion: the Doodle Set.

The Set includes three items: the Doodle Mug, Doodle Book, and Doodle Colored Pencils. Bo’s Coffee customers may avail of these three items by filling up their sticker cards from October 15, 2010 to January 30, 2011.

Doodle Colored Pencils is a pack of three colored pencils that are ready to brighten up your doodles!

So you think that you know about doodling?

Doodling is an activity for the bored and the listless, done while listening to a dull teacher or while enduring a long-winded conversation on the phone or so you think? But what we don’t realize is that doodling is really an intelligent activity.

Jackie Andrade, a psychology professor in the UK, proved through research that doodling aids memory. She had 40 people go through a monotonous phone conversation, with half of them doodling and half of them not. The doodling group remembered 29% more of the details as opposed to the ones who weren’t doodling.

1. Other psychologists assert that doodling helps to bring out a person’s ideas and emotional state.
2. Sometimes, words aren’t enough to express our thoughts and feelings, so doodling somehow draws them out of us.

The Doodle Mug is an elegantly-boxed white mug, adorned with friendly advice such as “go home early,” “pray” and “read a new book.” It’s great for sipping coffee while doodling.

And where should you do the doodling? The Doodle Book is here for all kinds of people: the creative and spontaneous can take advantage of our unruled pages, planning buffs will find their organization needs satisfied with our day and month planning pages, and perennial note-takers will enjoy our ruled note pages.

This year’s Doodle Book features something new: two Treats Pages. Doodle Book owners will be able to avail of exclusive promos through these Treats Pages. The first is “Tuesdays with Bo.” Each Tuesday, Doodle Book owners may avail of a free cookie with the purchase of one tall brewed coffee between 11 am and 1 pm or 6 pm and 8 pm. The second Treat Page entitles a customer to the free item of the month (e.g. Lemon Square, Short Hot Americano) if he/she purchases at least P220 worth of Bo’s Coffee items from 11 am to 2 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm. These promos are valid from January 1 until December 31, 2011 only.

Tentay Patis arrives in Cebu

Tentay Food Sauces Inc. remains committed to the same values that guided its founder — premium quality products at the best possible prices. With that, they chose to expand in Cebu in search of new markets and new opportunities.

In 1949, Ruperta D. Javier, an enterprising housewife concocted a fish sauce (patis) and fish paste (bagoong) from the fish hauls in the part of Navotas. Aware of the delicious taste of her sauces and proud of it, she simply named both “Tentay” which was how she was popularly called. Half a century later, her nickname became a byword for sauces and the products that carry her name has then increased from just 2, to capture the tastebuds of millions of people around the world – flavoring dishes in 11 countries spanning 4 continents.

The company’s strict quality control standards has enabled it to successfully penetrate other countries that exercise strict food importation, analysis and testing particularly on food additives and preservatives. Tentay Food Sauces Inc’s 1996 Golden Shell Award for Marketing Excellence is proof of the company’s continuous commitment to the same high-standards in food quality control set by its founder.

The Golden Shell Award are annually given by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to outstanding manufacturers of products or services that highlight the Filipino’s ingenuity, craftsmanship and business excellence.

Tentay Food Sauces Inc is the only food sauce company among a handful of awardees who won the highly-contested, prestigious Golden Shell Award for Product Quality Manufacturing Standard and Export Marketing Excellence – an affirmation of TFSI’s ongoing efforts to provide Filipinos and the rest of the world quality products at the best possible value.

Tentay Patis is the only Philippine Brand that passed the strict Japanese Standard in Sodium Benzolate, with not more than .005% or near zero preservative reading, qualifying it easily fot the U.S. Regualtions on fermented foods.

Tentay Food Sauces Inc currently offers a wide range of sauces for a variety of uses from marinating, basting, pouring to dipping. The company’s growing number of products attests to the company’s creativity and continuous product research and development in providing the best tasting sauces at popular prices.
Tentay Food Sauces Inc looks at the next fifty years with pride from its humble beginnings and hope in bringing to the world the unique taste of Filipino sauces – continuously pursuing its battlecry “Ibuhos ang sarap”.

Give the best love you can and cook up a feast with Tentay Patis. For delicious recipes online, you can visit the website: www.tentaysauce.com. Tentay Patis is available in all local leading supermarkets and is distributed in the Middle East, Hongkong, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, US, Hawaii and Guam.
Tentay – better food ideas from THE FOOD SAUCE COMPANY.

Patis is a healthy alternative to and equally matches the use of ordinary table salt. Patis sauce has less of the ’salt’ but more of the flavor and aroma that makes favorite dishes even more tempting.

New Offering from Red Ribbon

I got chance to get a taste test on the New Offering from Red Ribbon Cebu which were the Crispy Chicken, Chocolate Fudge Cake and Black Forest Cake.

We tried the 1st course which was the Crispy Fried Chicken which was already chopped without any bones; marinated, battered and coated in seasoned flour are fried till it becomes extra crispy. And an add-on which makes this meal stand out in looks and taste, due to the sauce other than the usual Ketchup, gravy, mang tomas or toyo-suka combination.

Next was Red Ribbon’s Chocolate Fudge Cake which is sure to make any day delightful. Anything that's chocolate is truly to die for! Random Suggestion: Give in to a slice or two with a cup of brew, freshly steeped tea, or warm glass of milk.

The 3rd offering was described as the “taste of cherry orchard in high summer - with whipped cream”, the German dessert known as Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte, is embraced by the rest of the world in its more recognizable name: Black Forest Cake.

Quick History:
When Red Ribbon first opened its doors in 1978 in Tomas Morato, Quezon City, Red Ribbon’s Black Forest Cake is one of the first cakes that debuted on its shelves.

How much for the New Offering from Red Ribbon Cebu's New and Improved Treats?

  • Crispy Chicken is available with a slice of Red Ribbon cake and drink for only Php148.00 or ala carte for just Php90.00.
  • Chocolate Fudge Cake is available in regular size for Php495.00 and junior size for only Php295.00.

After Run Jollibee meal

Jollibee is always langhap sarap for me, I have worked in Jollibee in the past and basically grew up knowing Jollibee. But I rarely eat or taste their breakfast meals. This time, I had a chance to try it out though after my morning exercise+walk+Jogging+Hiking Ritual.

I tried the Meal 4 which is composed of Garlic Rice + Soft drinks + Hotdog + Egg. Sounds and looks simple enough to make at home right? You are right but the thing that we don't have at home are high-end kitchen equipments and tools. One thing I like about their egg is its just cooked right and I actually know how they do it and the tools they use. Aside from that, the hotdog is steamed which I prefer and in my opinion much more tasty than the fried version.

When Bloggers learn how to cook...

On May 28, 2010, I was given a chance to expeience some Culinary Adventures through Cebu Blog Camp (As one o the raffled prices) at the Academy for International Culinary Arts (AICA). 10 lucky bloggers were given the opportunity to have a cooking party in AICA or Academy for International Culinary Arts in The Gallery, Mabolo.

Kitchen 1

I was late so I was not able to see the so-called some cooking clips shown to us by Chef Nikko Mabugat. Then we were introduced to Chef Joe Mike Lontoc and Chef Marleen Ong. Their background and experience gave us all a view of how competent our teachers are (All were educated in the US in not just prominent and prestigious schools but Restaurants as well).

Kitchen 2 with Novell and Vanjohn's mom

After we had our little introduction they brought us to the main kitchen where we were divided into two groups. The first group was going to do the "Quesadillas" in line to their mexican theme. I wanted to join in there but I opted to try out making some dessert/sweets namely "Churos."

This is one of the Salsa made by the one of the bloggers on kitchen 1 (Can't remember who made this though)

What's a Churos?

Churros, sometimes referred to as a Spanish doughnut, are fried-dough pastry-based snacks, sometimes made from potato dough, that originated in Spain.

How about a Quesadillas?

Quesadillas is a Mexican food made primarily of cheese inside a folded corn or wheat tortilla and cooked until the cheese melts. Occasionally a second ingredient is added with the cheese to add variety to the dish. The word comes from Spanish, and literally means "cheesy tortilla".

The Photoblogger himself solving the puzzle of slicing and dicing the vegetables

It was quite entertaining to see my co-bloggers solve the puzzle of cutting/chopping vegetables. I can smell the different vegetables coming together in the 2 kitchens, but it was not long as well when our ingredients started to give off its own scents!

Me "Properly " rolling the Churos on Cinnamon-Sugar Mix

One of the things I learned from our pastry chef is that everything had to be precise and exact. This kind of reminded me of our chemistry class back in college. You could see cooking ingredients and tools accompanied by lots of measuring tools as well.

Deep fried Churos, normally they are baked.

The chocolate dip! Yummmmm

As I look over the other side of the kitchen I saw the AICA Chefs preparing something of their own. Chef Joe Mike prepared a delicious Main course and I had no idea what they called it or I think they mentioned what it was but I can't remember but I was sure it was also Mexican.

Chef Joe Mike's main course

After all the theories and hands on experience, we all proceeded upstairs to have wonderful Mexican Fiesta!!! There was more food than expected and I deliberately stopped myself from devouring the Churos since it is very addictive! At the end of the food fiesta we were treated to a special Margarita drink from Chef Nikko herself.

Let's prepare for a feast!

To be honest, it's my first time to be inside a cooking school and to be in an actual high class Chef's kitchen! It was truly and awesome experience! As what Kung Fu panda said, you'll be blinded with awesomeness and there is simply no price for AWESOMENESS!

Awesomenss number 1: Churos with Chocolate Dip (My masterpiece bwahahah ^_^)

Awesomeness Number 2: Varied Salsa made the bloggers for Quesadillas

Awesomeness number 3: Awesome looking salad

Awesomeness Number 5: Mexican Rice by Chef Joe Mike

Awesomeness Number 6: Awesome looking Mexican Style meat (I'm bad with names)? by Chef Joe Mike

The teachers are wonderful, funny and have loads of stories to tell and because of that you'll realize how time seems so fast. The Chefs mentioned that it's ok to be ignorant and no nothing of cooking unlike the notion in our family that, you are somewhat crucified if you don't know how to cook!

Clado: May I take your Orders? the feast will begin in a moment

Let the Feast begin!

AICA just opened last March 16, 2010 and enrollment is currently ongoing. They have courses varying from 5 or up to 12 month courses. No need to go abroad to learn from the best when the best is right here in Cebu and right now. For more information, visit AICA Culinary page.

Churos Chefs in kitchen 2

Special thanks to Chef Johann Young, Chef Nikko Mabugat (Thanks also for taking our pics using my cam), Chef Joe Mike Lontoc and Chef Marleen Ong for the sumptuous food and also this wonderful opportunity to be under their guidance even for a short time! My experience in this prestigious cooking school, made me want to say this is the Best Cooking School in Cebu!

Nomnoming Johnny's Fish and Chips

Me, together with 2 friends who I work with were Nomnoming Johnny's Fish and Chips which is located in Parkmall, number one Mall in Cebu.

If you still can't find the place here are some specific location guidelines: Johnny's Fish and Chips, Parkmall’s al fresco area (ALF 3 - 8 Parkmall), 168 Ouano Avenue North Reclamation Area, Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines (across Cebu International Convention Center - CICC).

Whenever I go to Restaurants I always take a pic of their light fixtures :)

The mall's working hours are as follows: Mall Hours: 10am to 9pm; Supermarket Hours: 9am to 10pm and Al Fresco Dining Hours: varies between 10am to 2am. So basically, you can go there to visit and buy something in the mall, shop some supplies in the supermarket and go to the Al Fresco area to choose among Parkmall's different choices of restaurants. I would most deinitely recommend you to go with Johnny's Fish and Chips since it gives off a familiar home like feel, it is best to dine their with one's family!

Super Spicy!! mmmm

There is a variety of food choices to choose from in Johnny's Fish and Chips. We basically chose to eat spicy chicken wings (Whoooo hoottt!!) and a really awesome beef steak (In which was really really soft, it almost melted in our mouths as if it was not meat) with garlic rice. For our beverage, we had mango shake, bottomless Iced tea and a Coke in can.

Mouth watering beef steak

The area is really comfortable to the point that we chatted like we were in our own homes and failed to realize that we almost chatted for an hour without realizing it. If you wish to try out Johnny's Fish and Chips, then i suggest you try it in Parkmall, number one Mall in Cebu!
